Benefits of Exercise to the Lymphatic System

If you subscribe to our Facebook page, you will have seen the recent post about the benefits of exercise to the lymphatic system. It is crucial to exercise effectively, as this assists the lymphatic system to function properly and therefore the ability to fight certain types of cancer. There are many ways to assist you and these are listed below:

  • Include activities with ‘vertical bounce’ for example trampolining, jumping jacks, dancing, biking, horse riding and skipping to name a few
  • Steam room and sauna (we have these at our Camp in Scotland)
  • Dry skin brushing – best done first thing as that is when toxins accumulate and work from the soles upwards, towards the heart
  • Deep diaphragmatic breathing

Top Recipes from our Chef, Tony Budde

Summer Salmon

Oily fish keeps us healthy and fit, as it contains the essential Omega 3 fatty acids we require in our diet. Salmon also contains vitamin B, which is a good source of potassium, it is loaded with selenium and contains an antioxidant – why would you not enjoy it?

Tony has created this delicious recipe, which can be barbecued or oven cooked. The perfect dish, accompanied by green beans, broccoli, mangetout or a fresh green salad with a light dressing.

Ingredients

Serves: 3 - 4

  • 230 ml ketchup
  • 125 ml cup honey
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ⅛ tsp chilli powder
  • ⅛ tsp garlic powder
  • ⅛ tsp black pepper
  • 4 x 75g salmon fillet (remove skin)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat whisk all the ingredients together except the salmon
  2. Simmer 7 to 8 minutes stirring often or until the sauce thickens up
  3. Meanwhile preheat the oven to 160c and grease a baking pan and set the salmon in it skin side down
  4. Pour the BBQ sauce over the top of the salmon
  5. Bake until the salmon is cooked through 10 - 20 minutes depending on their size
