The Camp is delighted to announce the launch of our new Gap Year/ Challenging Environment Preparation Course based in South West Scotland.

Due to demand from our clients (over 3000 ladies have now visited us), we have developed a course that meets the exacting standards of The Camp. The course has been designed for school leavers, both boys and girls, who are planning to embark on their gap year travels. However, the programme is equally relevant for adults who are embarking on travel to a challenging environment.

The gap year is a key learning and maturing process but while the exuberance of youth must be encouraged, it must also be harnessed to ensure the experience is SAFE.

The Ex Special Forces team that are the staff at The Camp are uniquely qualified to deliver this course. Every member of the team has extensive experience in every hostile or challenging country on earth, in both a military and civilian context.

The week-long residential course will prepare our clients both physically and mentally to ensure they are equipped to face any situation. The course includes: geography, law and religion, local customs, narcotics, orientation, situation awareness, conflict management, self- defence, survival, weapons orientation. In addition, we provide extensive first aid instruction that will lead to a certificated first aid qualification at the end of the course.

The programme is conducted under the over-arching Camp environment of fitness, discipline and fun. ‘Mens sana in corpore sano’ – ‘A healthy mind in a healthy body.’
