Summer Adventure Weekend

The Camp are delighted to announce that we are running a summer walking fitness weekend, for our past clients, in the stunning hills of the Peak District National Park.  The course will primarily be hill trekking but will incorporate some gorge /ridge walking, caving, rock climbing & orienteering and as well as some additional fitness activities in and around the property.  The dates are the evening of Friday 31st July until the evening of 2nd August and we will be based at a beautiful country house near Buxton in Derbyshire. The property is easily accessible by road & rail.

We will provide breakfast (continental/cooked), a full three course evening meal on both evenings and a packed lunch for both day's activities. Costs are £450  for a twin room or £550 for a private room (all en suite), including all activities, full liability insurance, instruction & transfers.  We will split into groups during the day (dependent on fitness levels) & we will all meet in the dining room, over dinner, to share our adventures!

This course will be on a first come, first served basis.

Fit ball Ab Crunch

Karl Wall, one of The Camp's trainers recommends the use of the fitball for increasing core strength. "The fitball is a great piece of kit as you can do so many exercises with it," says Karl, "and one example would be the ab curl. To perform this exercise properly you will need to place your hips and back on the ball and look up as shown in photo 1. Make sure your feet are a shoulder width apart, your knees are bent at a 90 degree angle and that your hands are crossed over your chest. Without bouncing or jerking raise your head, upper and mid back until your are looking straight ahead. Ensure that your knees remain bent at a 90 degree angle and that your feet are flat on the ground as shown in photo 2. Hold this position for a count of two and then lower yourself back to your original position."

If you are new to this exercise Karl recommends 3 sets of 10 to start with, as you progress you can increase this to 3 sets of 15 and then to 3 sets of 20.

The Camp in Andalusia Spain

Following the extremely successful launch of the Spanish Course The Camp has released new dates for Spain in October 2009 and plans to release more dates for November 2009, January & February 2010 in the near future.

Located at the end of a scenic valley in rural Andalusia The Camp in Spain is on the doorstep of one of Europe's true wilderness locations and only thirty minutes drive from the coast and one hour from Sierra Nevada.

The baronial mansion that is home to The Camp is a jewel of Andalusian architecture dating back to the 1400's. Meticulously restored into an outstanding country residence it is set in a private, quiet and peaceful setting, well away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas and nearest towns.

Facilities include a swimming pool, attractive dining room, drawing room, private chapel, tennis court, museum and several terraces with breathtaking views over the mountains. There is an additional courtyard cottage with accommodation for four guests.

The course is of similar structure to that of the original Scottish course but we will be utilising the Andalusian terrain, the nearby beach and the pool. Clients will experience the same results as those gained in Scotland with reference to weight loss, a reduction in body measurements and increased fitness levels. The team remains the same, including our chef.
