THE CAMP SUMMER ADVENTURE WEEKEND
Due to continued demand we are adding another 'Camp Summer Adventure Weekend' to be based in the beautiful Peak District. Bobby is hoping to include walking, climbing,
caving, abseiling, team games, interest talks and a walk onto the Kinder Plateau. Come with an open mind and a sense of adventure. The dates are 16th -18th July and prices start at £375 for a
shared
room with en suite.

OXFAM TRAILTREKKER CHALLENGE Good luck to four of our past Campees, Laurence Borde, Claire Fahy, Alison Wilson & Katherine James as they have
got together to take part in the Trailtrekker 100km challenge on 5th June to raise money for Oxfam. They started their year with a visit to The Camp in Spain during January and since then have
commenced
training in earnest for the walk which they are aiming to complete in under 24 hours. If you would like to sponsor them please click the just giving logo.

Another past camper, Heidi Alderton has recently returned from a very successful trip to Kilimanjaro having made the summit at 4.30am UK time! We are proud of you Heidi - The
Camp
certainly drives many brave women to achieve some incredible challenges.

FITNESS TIP OF THE MONTH
Speed it up - to burn fat aerobic exercise should be at medium to low intensity (around 65% of maximum heart rate). However intensifying your CV
training sessions can offer many more benefits - including greater overall calorie expenditure, which will continue for longer once you are at rest.
Add muscle - whilst cardio work is a great way to burn fat incorporating some resistance training into your workouts will earn you extra calories every day.
Address the core issue - If you work particularly on
strengthening the muscles around your mid section you will
find that everything gets 'pulled in' giving the appearance of
a smaller waist line even if you aren't actually losing
weight. Compound exercise is best - for example
performing the simple squat requires the use of 256 muscles in
just one movement!

Allan's Low Calorie Banana Muffins
Although these delicious muffins they may seem small (considering the size of muffin we can get in a bakery) we always add a helping of fruit or yogurt for breakfast.
30 Minutes to prepare and cook
Ingredients (for 12)
1 cup flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup mashed bananas
1/4 sugar
1 large egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4
cup apple sauce |

Cooking Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease muffin pan or line with paper muffin liners. In medium bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together. In separate bowl, combine banana, sugar, egg
and vanilla extract. Blend until well mixed. Add apple sauce. Slowly combine dry mixture to banana mixture. Blend well. Scoop the batter into prepared muffin cups. Bake 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted
in the centre of a muffin comes out clean. Cool before serving.
